The Muslims living in Makkah can stay in Makkah but if any Muslim wishes to come to Madinah, should not be stopped. If a person migrates to Madina, they can be returned. If a person migrates to Makkah, they can not be returned. Tribes of Arabia are free to take any side they want. Lessons from the Treaty of Hudaibiya Huddaybiyyah is still very important in Islam.
Quraish also accepted Madinah as the Islamic state. This shows that one should work with diplomacy not with war. This treaty helped Islam to flourish in Arabic peninsula.

Six years after Hijrah, in CE, the holy Prophet peace be upon him dreamt that he and his followers were entering Makkah and performing tawaf. It was a good sign and hence he declared his plan to visit Makkah to perform Umrah.

On Muslim History and Civilization In the sixth year after his migration to Medina March , Prophet Muhammad pbuh decided to perform the Umrah the lesser pilgrimage. Fourteen hundred of the companions joined the Prophet for Mecca. He ordered them not to carry any weapons of war, but allowed a sword which was customary for the travelers to carry for protection against caravan raids. The Quraish Pagans intent upon not allowing the prophet to enter Mecca closed all access to the city. The Prophet then reached a place called Hudaibiya, on the precincts of the sacred territory of Mecca, and halted there.

Since the Prophet s knew about the benefits of this peace treaty, he s showed a great tolerance, one example of which was accepting the request of Suhayl b. Objection of Some of the Companions Tolerance of the Prophet s made some Companions angry and criticizing and they were even heard saying inappropriate words and asking ironic questions about the Prophet s. Muslims will be obliged to return the people who would escape Mecca for Medina, but the other party would not have such an obligation towards who would escape Medina. However according to Sura al-Mumtahana verse 10, in this peace treaty, returning women believers who would escape Mecca for Medina was prohibited, rather their mahr would be payed to their husbands.
