Just read - and understand! He was also a great writer, and a deep thinker. His ideas on training were a bit rigid to say the least. They workout proposed bye Mike are extremely spaced.

Your development is placed in your hands, not the hands of a personal trainer. You call the shots. One of the great lessons of this books is the importance of process and valuing small victories. We are trying not to be perfect but to constantly work at perfecting our process.

I started receiving Zen instruction around the time I started weight-lifting. It was so strange because in Zen you are encouraged to focus on action and the body whereas Mike Mentzer in this book about weight-lifting is telling you to focus on your mind.

If you are interested in this method practically or are curious about starting your weight-lifting adventure I recommend that you read this book. I enjoyed this book very much, and it is one to keep and reread now and again. Totally recommended if I seem to be reading some very counterintuitive stuff at the moment

High Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer Way It was the last book that Mike wrote before he died and it is called Heavy Duty for the obvious reason that is exactly what it gives you. It is a highly intense heavy duty workout with the emphasis on heavy as Mike believed that a short workout of only 30 minutes was all it took to become a major bodybuilder. He attempts to prove this by comparing his results that he got from this type of training, however we should rather look at the scientific explanation instead of the anecdotal results achieved by what some said was a genetically gifted bodybuilder.
