Just A Wish Away Bestselling Author Barbara Freethy, takes us back to the beach in an emotional love story between two best friends who have been separated for a very long time.
Alexa Parker and Braden Elliott fell in love when they were twelve years old. On a summer day, while searching for sea glass on the beaches of Washington State, they discovered an unusually shaped bottle.
Popping the cork, they were surprised by a rogue wave that sprayed them with a fine, cool mist. Closing their eyes, they each made a wish … Before their love had a chance to grow, life, family and tragedy separated the two best friends.
Now fifteen years later, Alexa returns to Sand Harbor after her aunt is injured in a mysterious break-in at her antique store. His military service has left him with physical and emotional scars. Can the sweet love of youth be recaptured by two now cynical souls? Can solving the mystery of the past bring them to a new future? Or will it take a wish, maybe two … When Wishes Collide In a moment of desperation two strangers make a wish, only to discover that sometimes a wish can take you down an unexpected path … straight toward a life-changing love.
Wyatt Randall is also in need of a miracle. Two years earlier, his ex-wife kidnapped their daughter, and Wyatt is desperate to find his little girl. A new lead raises his hopes, but quickly fizzles out.
When his coin clashes with another, he sees what little hope he has flying away. Adrianna and Wyatt soon learn that they have more in common than two coins that collided. In fighting for the lives they lost, they must learn how to trust each other and how to love again. Only then will they discover that meeting each other might not be what they wished for, but exactly what they need. Talented author Barbara Freethy brings this story to life with her phenomenal storytelling ability and descriptive language.
These three women, who are total strangers, share the same birthday, but their lives are interwoven on this one life changing night, as some of their wishes are fulfilled in a way that none of them expect. A brilliant tale, I was unable to put it down until I found out whether these women received their wishes.
At times, humorous and at times, tearful, this novella, with its interesting plot, humor, surprising plot twists, heartfelt emotions, clever dialogue and romance, is unforgettable. I highly recommend it and look forward to reading Ms. The town where this book is set is somewhere that I want to visit and all the people are ones I would want to hang out with. I really enjoyed this book, great story line and very well written.
Loved it!!! Excitement, passion, all that crazy mad-about-you stuff. I want to fall in love. Liz, Angie and Carole are well sketched characters, and Barbara Freethy lets us see their good and bad points. A Secret Wish is a nice, simple story that will take you an hour or two to read.
There are no sex scenes, although at least two of the women engage in some romance. Freethy leads us into the insight of not just one mind, not two, but three different pairs. She did a tremendous job at capturing my attention, holding it, and then releasing it on down to the last minute.
I truly enjoyed reading this novel and look forward to more she has to provide. Four out of five stars. It is a unique story that unfolds into a predictable and happy ending. A story about family love, trust, and romance with a little mystery included.
